Yummy Mini Album (Front Cover) (Tutorial #1)

Are you all ready? Here we go with the first tutorial of the "Let's Have Some Acrylic Fun!" challenge! Let's start with the front cover. I sure hope that you all had your Clear Scraps acrylics ready.

Follow the steps below.
1) Use a piece of Clear Scraps Mini Acrylic Cupcake as the base for the front cover. If you're not using the mini acrylic cupcake, just use whichever acrylic piece that you want to use for this project.

2) Get an embossing machine. ie. Cuttlebug etc. and an embossing folder. I've used the Spots and Dots embossing folder. If you don't have this embossing folder, just use whichever folder you have. If you don't have an embossing machine, try stamping or even doodling on it.

3) Run the acrylic cupcake piece through the embossing machine.

4) Trace the bottom of the cupcake shape onto a piece of beige textured card stock. Cut it out.

5) Ink it's edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Use a foam or sponge to dab the ink onto the edges. Attach it to the acrylic piece with some adhesives. What adhesives to use? You can use Zip Dry, Helmar Glue, Glue Dots or even your Ranger Glossy Accents.

6) Get some paint markers and Stickles. I've used the a few Zig Painty (white, soft peach, cancun fiesta) (you could use any other paint markers) and a bottle of Magenta Stickles (any other glitter glue works fine too) to decorate the embossed image on the upper half of the cupcake. Just use your paint markers to doodle some dots and stripes. Use the Stickles to add some bling to it. If you don;t have any paint markers, try using some acrylic paints and a brush.

7) Cut out a small piece ( about 1.25"x 1.25") from a pattern paper. Then, run it through the embossing machine. I've used a "cupcake" embossing folder from Cuttlebug. You could use any image you want. After embossing, use a sanding block or a small piece of sand paper and lightly sand on top of the embossed image. This will enhanced the embossed image. (If you don't have an embossing machine, you could stamp on it or to be more creative, try heat embossing on it.) Ink it's edges with Frayed burlap Distress Ink.

8) Cut out another square piece (about 1.5" x1.5') from an olive card stock using a deco scissors or you can use a die cut from your die cutting machine. Ink it's edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Attach the piece in step (7) on top of it. Out line the edges with some Crystal Stickles. Add this finished piece to the acrylic cupcake.

9) Get some mini chipboard alphas. You can die cut them or you could use some chipboard alpha stickers for this. Any kind of alphas would be great. Paint them with some acrylic paint. When it's dry, cover them with Glossy Accents. Let it dry. Attach them to the acrylic piece.

10) Add a magenta button to the upper left of the acrylic piece and on top of it, add a pink sequin and a dot of Liquid Pearls (White Opal). You're done with the front cover.

I hope you like this first tutorial on the front cover of my Yummy Mini Album. If you have any question, please feel free to post it here, email me or post it on the chatbox on the lower right of my blog. Share you finished front cover with us by posting a link on the comment section here. You could upload a pic of your project on photobucket.com, your blog or an online gallery and share it with us. I would love to take a look at it.

Keep an eye tomorrow for the second tutorial on this yummylicious project! Just to get you all ready, get yourself some small stamps, a trim and a piece of paper doiley. Have fun!!
